| Has anyone ever heard of or experienced a water poltergeist. Most of you have read the story of our home in the stories section of the forum. Well we have for a few months now been experiencing water puddles throughout the house. The puddles leave no stains or have no odor. We even woke one morning to find the bottom of our bed soaking wet. Again no odor and the water left no stains. We have no plumbing upstairs in our home where the bedrooms are and we have a new roof. The only cases I can find regarding water relate to water poltergeist. What do you guys think of this theory? I am stumpped about the water puddles in our home. |

DO you have central Heat and A/C? What type of wallboard do you have (gypsum or wood panel)? What type of flooring (Wood, tile, carpet)? What are the temperature variations of your house between day and night?
Have you used any commercial dehumidifiers to see if it prevents the water from forming? How are the summer and winter humidity levels (in what part of the US do you live?)?
Just trying to eliminate mundane factors for my own satisfaction before I start researching "water poltergeists". LOL _________________ Frank Ratka

If your central AC unit is over sized it'll do a very poor job of removing humidity from your home...resulting in condensation popping up on all cool surfaces.
A good amount of AC units are over sized, installers just sometimes aren't as educated as they need to be and figure 'BIGGER MUST BE BETTER RIGHT?' |

Ok wow someone actually replied to this topic lol...
Ok our home is over 150 yrs old. We do not have central air conditioning. I live in Ohio. We do not even have heater ducts in the upstairs. My daughter has a grate in her floor that allows the only heat upstairs. We do have carpeting on the floors. I am thinking the walls are just drywall. Very old and not straight. These puddles form all over the house. Like stated before they have no odor or leave no stains. Wouldn't condensation leave some kind of stain. Like a water stain caused by a leaky roof on a ceiling? |

I don't really know about stains, because most of the places I see moisture problems are commercial buildings...
But you wouldn't believe the amount of moisture...EVERY thing is wet.
For a house 150 years old...I think it'd be safe to say that it has poor insulation, which'll cause its internal atmosphere to become one with the outside.
When it's humid outside, it'll be humid inside...and if you have window units they may not be able to keep up with the moisture. Your best bet would be to get some sort of humidifier. |

Ok I gotta be the devils advocate here just cuz well thats me. We do get moisture on the windows obviously and in the winter sometimes the walls in our family room. There is no heat but a gas fireplace we installed in the family room at all. But these puddles are large and in the middle of a room... Not by a window or a window air conditioning unit. Just by themselves in the middle of the floor and everything else around them is dry.. _________________ Founder

Well it's really hard to say. ;D
It could be that during the winter the floor remains cold and the warm, moist air condenses on it (gas heat puts out a LOT of excess moisture, ever held your hand over a gas furnace's exhaust? It gets drenched quick.)
Now, as far as puddles in rooms other than the family room, I have no idea. |

Hey Mom, I am totally and utterly stumped. I've heard of things moving and things breaking. I've even experienced most of it. But this.... This is just weird. I am completely and utterly stumped as of what to tell you. I guess just keep us updated and let us know if you ever get wet by the water. I mean like how you said your bed was wet. I guess... Tell us if you ever wake up soaked. _________________ Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there. |

I will be a really pissed off person If I wake up soaked. I actually remembered I have a video of our upstairs hallway. We was recording up there to try and catch the door slamming at the bottom of our stairs. Anyway you at first hear faint drips of water, then you hear water hitting a puddle and the sounds of the water hitting the puddle gets louder like the puddle is getting larger. The funny thing with this is that paticular night we did not find any water spots at the top of the stairs. I don't think i will ever get to the bottom of this one. The next time it happens we are going to take a sample to our pool store and see if it matches our tap or well water. _________________ Founder

| could it be a leak in your piping?Someone unscrewed one of our kitchen sink pipes for some reason, still not sure how or why, but what happened was puddles in the middle of the kitchen floor and adjacent rooms. Just an idea. |
