Alright, so right now I'm on a vacation in Gettysburg PA! So I do a little ghost study for a past time when I'm not doing things that need to be done, and this is an unequaled opportunity. I'll give you updates later. Unfortunately, I didn't expect Gettysburg to be on the trip, so I don't have proper equipment. Only a Kodak digital camera.
I'll keep everyone updated, wish me luck. Also, if anyone ever wants to meet up with me and help with some of my studies when I return to my home town, that'd be great. Just get in contact with me via this forum or my inbox, and we'll set something up. _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

Oh wow did I get some footage! I know it isn't dust, due to the fact that some photos did not have orbs in them. I have a ton of those. Has anyone heard of the Jenny Wade house? I highly suggest a study of it, because it turned out great photos.
Jenny Wade Tour-An hour and a half tour that tells you the background of different hauntings meanwhile you can take photos and such. I suggest doing this if only for the background. They also allow people to study over night if it's professionally done and all that.
Part 1: Introductions
So while the tour guide is telling us the history of Jenny Wade, I'm taking pictures of the surrounding area. The first three show nothing. Suddenly on my fourth random try, I catch four orbs, all hovering, seemingly around the guide. At this point I meet a nice lady named Robin, who has had many past encounters with different spirits. She was in Gettysburg with her young granddaughter, whom claims to have seen a Gettysburg Confederate leaning up against a tree one day on a previous trip.
Part 2: The Observing Tree, (or something like that)
Here was yet another part of the battle. While most sat around the tree simply listening to the tour guide, me Robin, and her granddaughter went around taking photos of the surrounding area. I took about three duds before catching one hovering underneith a tree branch. By this time it's getting very dark, so my flash is doing jack to help me catch the surrounding area. So a few minutes later I caught a black picture, however I count about twelve orbs in it. Normally I would consider that a hoax, but all other pics after that one didn't turn up anything.
Part 3: Moving Along, The Sniper
A Confederate sharpshooter had stationed himself on a hilltop where the guide took us. I caught two photos here, and there was a very strange noise, a moan or something. Could have been from the city, because we were near the main road again, but it sure as hell sounded like it came from the tree line. Others heard it, and others didn't, we don't know what that was. Here a caught a single orb in two separate photos, both across the street from us, near the house the Confederate had stationed himself at.
Part 4: Jenny Wade House First Floor.
Well it started out as a pretty bad start. I had absolutely nothing, and this house is small. Suddenly I entered her bedroom, and I think I caught two phenomenon.
First: An anomaly on the wall, could be a smudge on the camera, but it doesn't show on any previous or future photos
Second: A full bodied female shadow in a mirror. There was no way anybody could have made this shadow, since the light was directing shadows away from the mirror. haha, needless to say my heart stopped for a while afterward. I would like second opinions on this one.
Part 5-Upstairs.
Here Robin AND her granddaughter claimed that one of the chairs had begun rocking violently at one point. I was not in the room when it happened, nor did I get a picture of an orb or other anomaly when I took a picture of it. I did however get a vortex in a mirror. I don't believe it was actually in the mirror, but actually behind me and infront of another girl on the tour. It looks like a beam of light, so I'm not sure, however I don't know where it could have come from. A second opinion here is requested. There might also be another anomaly on the wall in one picture, although I cannot tell for sure.
Part 6- The basement.
For all the ghost stories where monsters live in the basement, this isn't one of them, although I did catch a very small but very odd looking anomaly. It's a face or two, and a claw like hand. You cannot actally see it on the normal zoom, but when you zoom into the row of bricks just above the top step of the second cellar exit, you can see it. There the played an audio sample of some things other ghost investigations had caught. A second opinion is requested for the one picture I took down here. _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

Evidence photos can be seen here. For best quality, I suggest that you save the photos your interested in to your computer, and then use your photo programs to zoom in and out of areas. Nothing in these pictures has been altered out of their origional state. _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

Heya Typist,
Thanks for sharing. I will give you my opinions on these photos, but I hope you know by now that I give honest opinions and I do not sugarcoat.
What you are seeing in your first photo of the mirror are most likely reflections from smudges. The marks you are looking at do not resemble what people tradionally call "vortices".
I can see the tiny faces you're talking about in the picture of the stairs, but it's a pretty safe bet that they are just markings on the bricks. Do you have comparison photos of the stairway? Chances are they would show up in every photo. Many investigators refer to this as "matrixing" these days. Our minds tend to form images that are familiar to us, such as faces when we look at certain types of surfaces, textures and backgrounds, etc.
It's hard for me to comment on the third photo (the one with the shadow), because I wasn't there to verify the lighting conditions and such. My guess would have to be that the mirror is picking up on someones shadow, which was being casted on on the wall from a light source in the room.
As far as all the orb photos go, the old, tired theory that suggests "if it wasn't there in the (insert a number here)photos before this one or in the (insert a number here) photos after this photo, so it must be paranormal!" just doesn't hold any water, bro. ESPECIALLY where orbs are concerned! You would be amazed at how fast patches of dust and pollen seem to move in and out, even indoors. It especially happens a lot outdoors. Don't forget that moisture and humidity can also cause tons of orbs to show up in photos and even those kinds of orbs will be there in one photo and gone the next.
My advice to you and all up and coming ghost hunters is to avoid getting too excited about orb photos, but I think we all go through that phase when we first start out. But, please do yourself, as well as the ghost hunting community a favor and definitely do not swear to anything you see where "orb" photos are concerned. You will be saving yourself a lot of grief and let downs by just assuming that 99.9% of orbs that show up in photos are not orbs.
Sorry to sound like a party pooper, but this is how we all learn. Stick with it and go ghost hunting as often as you can in as many reportedly haunted locations as you can. Take hundreds of photos at every location and you will get wierd stuff. Even if it is only maybe one out every thousand (or more) photos.... If you want more instant gratification, invest in a digital audio recorder. You will almost always get EVP's everywhere ya go, but don't bother recording audio during tours and such! The environment needs to be as quiet and controlled as possible.
Thanks again for sharing!

I have to agree with Aedryan on the majority of his points. The pictures you have posted are good examples of what to look for when taking photos out of your evidence. The mirror picture is actually a reflection of the camera flash off the lamp next to the mirror (it has the same shape and features).
Anyway, don't feel discouraged by our opinions. Identifying the false positives makes you a better ghost hunter than most who will claim any photographic anomaly as paranormal activity. You have a good start!!! _________________ Frank Ratka

Frank,
I see you finally achieved the prestigeous rank of "Ghost Hunter In Training"! I told you that you'd go far here if you stuck with it, bro! LMFAO!
I bet it all seems worthwhile now, don't it?

haha, well thanks everyone. I'm not the type who likes to deny the truth, so it's no problem that you guys aren't just patting me on the back.
What does piss me off is I spent seven bucks to go on this tour, and it's a fake! Geez, isn't that illegal or something? lollol jk
Yeah, I do want to continue, but I'd kinda like to do it with experienced people. Is there anyone out there who would like to help with another small town case I'm working on? It's the Wetmore building and WASU building in my hometown. They're both said to have spirit activity. _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

You can always count on an honest opinion here...we don't cottle anyone.
I have seen so many forums or groups, pat each other on the back for a job well done when there are questions of authenticity to be answered. They say, "good capture" or "great orb" instead of seeing that reflection off the water or the rain falling with the ground all wet around them. That does a dis-service to your development and my credibility. If we can't honestly explain the anomaly in a picture we will admit it so feel free to present anything you got.
Also remember, there are no experts out there...so don't fall for the cheap, fake titles you see on some of these groups sites like...photo analysis expert, or photo authentications and so on. It's all bullshit!
Oh and here is a big one...Certified Paranormal Investigator or Certified EVP Specialist! ...certified by who and who made them an authority. I have reviewed IGHS' certification program and Haunted Voices EVP classes and have to say you will learn more from practical experience. Just get out there an do it!
I didn't plan for this post to turn into a tyraid(sp) but it has.... I have been in the paranormal game for a long while and knew a lot of these people before they started charging for services or when they were fresh on the forums asking for advice. If you have questions about a group or team, please ask us before you spend money with them. We will give you the skinny on any of them we know. _________________ Frank Ratka

Alright! I haven't been a part of the strange happenings forum in a while, so I thought I would report in. Later tonight I will be going to Gurnsey Hollow. I actually am not the expert on that area or anything, but one of my friends has most all the information needed about it. EXCITED!!!!!! Does anyone else know this place? _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

I have a question. It has been about 2 years since my last post on here, but I've been granted full access to the Alice Wetmore home that I have previously been to.
I have ten people that will come, some practiced ghost hunters, some WICCAN's who will be kind of an experiment on their own, and some newer people to the field. I strongly believe, due to previous smaller investigations, that Alice is not someone to be afraid of, she has appeared to people, but never once harmed anyone. Is it too big of a group? Should I not bring the less experienced? _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |
