Firstly, Hello everyone !
Okay, I guess i'm really looking for some `scientific' opinions to the age old question of does the paranormal actually exist???
I've had some funny experiences over the last few years as ive gotten older (late 20's) and i'm wondering where to draw the line between mental fantasy and the paranormal.
My background is based in the biological sciences and sometimes I find it hard to accept things without hard empirical evidence. Having said that, there is a definate part of me wanting to beleive in there being more than what meets the eye to life.
Anyway, I'm wondering how exactly you draw the line as to what is paranormal as i'm sure that a sceptic (which im not) could produce a reasonable explanation to almost any occurence.
To give you an example an old aprartment that I lived in had definitie noises upstairs of a nighttime whilst i slept downstairs. I often would get up to investigate these creaking footsteps to find absolutely nothing there. I basically put this down to my own imagination/the house expanding/contracting.
Except for the fact that When going upstairs there was a room that I almost felt like I had to inch my way with my back against the wall past it. For some reason I always had the feeling that someone had hung themselves up there. I didnt think too much of this until ages later when my Fiancee told me she had the same feeling about that room.
So you can see how I sort of rationalise my way around strange happenings and this is probably due to my background. But the thing is as I get older I think i'm becoming sensitive to things as i'm able to somehow pick up feelings that I havent experienced before and not quite sure what to do with them.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm actually not quite sure what im asking |

What your asking for is hardcore proof for the existence of "ghostly" phenomenon. The only proof you need are your own experiences. Why don't you find a local ghost hunting grop and stomp along with them. It will either make you a believer or a skeptic.
A lot of the evidence collected by my team or Aedryan's team or anyone elses team would not be believed unless you were standing there when it was recorded. You end up having groups like SAPS trying to debunk activity that a 4th grader could recreate with a dark background and a string or whatever.
If you choose to deny your own past experiences and insist on rationalizing those events with mundane explanations that don't quite fit (the reason why you are here), you will project yourself into a fantasy world where these things don't exist. Point is be honest with yourself and your evidence, if your lucky it will change your perspective on the universe around you. _________________ Frank Ratka

Hey Frank,
Thanks for the reply.
I've often considered going out with a ghost hunting group somewhere to see what happens but I must admit its a bit of a daunting opportunity. I guess I probably have watched a little too much TV so I have a small fear of the whole demon/possession deal. This is likely the small religious side of me coming out.
I guess its something I'm going to have to conquer if I want to acknowledge a few of the things that have been going on.
Anyway, I appreciate the time that you took to reply to my message. |
