Alright, So I fell out of the whole religious view. There are way too many churches out there that use their power over the people to press political or moral opinions on people, who suck it up as the word of god. So, I broke off from all religions, and swore that if there was a god, I would figure it out for myself. Well today I don't believe, cause too many things happen to too many good good people, and I can't believe any god so loving could just sit back and watch. However, is paranormal reserch just the search for god? Are we building our own tower of bable here? Any ideas? _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |

I'm not one to preach to anyone but I'm going to because that is what this forum is for!!
Maybe your concept or view of god is not correct. Traditionally we have been lead to think and envision god as some old man in a robe who will judge us on our individual deeds while living on earth and serving him! "If you don't follow my rules, you will be punished in the worst way you can imagine"! That doesn't sound right! Religion and this vision served a purpose that has survived for 2 millenia, control and power. It is true that religion is a tool to wield power over the masses, but the modern era, I feel is starting to emerge from the fog of ignorance. You don't think the pyramids were built because egyptians were bored do you!?
There are a lot of diehards out there who follow one church or the other out of fear of eternal damnation or some kind of divine punishment. Do you really think that this a possibility? What makes you think that the "bad" things that happen to people do not serve a greater purpose? Maybe that is what they were supposed to experience! That is not for us to determine at our present level of focus; we can't see the whole picture.
While living we can only see a small portion of the overall story of existence. It is not our purpose or right to makeup the other portion. Like my old DS used to say, they don't give us enough information to have an opinion.
Does a christian/muslim/judeo god exist? No, in my opinion! Does a god exist in another form and meaning? Yes, very much so and it is much closer than you realize. Don't look outside yourself for those answers...look deep inside.
I follow no religion or philosophy but I am privy to some inside information. 8) _________________ Frank Ratka

I've never really believed in God or even an after life. That's a large part of the reason I got into ghost study. Like anybody else I truely hope that both exist, but I need proof!
So, do I believe in God or an after life more now, after being a paranormal investigator? I don't really believe in God any more now than I did before and honestly, I am probably even more confused about the after life now than I used to be. Other than maybe EVP's, I honestly haven't seen or experienced enough indisputable evidence of either....
I think the Bible is essentially a set of laws that were designed to keep people's moral ethics in check. If people had nothing to fear in the after life, they would be running around naked through the streets - killing, raping and defecating wherever and whenever they pleased like animals. Though this is a good thing, I think it's still a form of control, very much like the terror tactics our neo-conservative government is using to control the people.
One thing I will say is, the scriptures in Revelations are horrifying if you ever sit and try to twist them around to fit the things that are going on around the world today! You can relate the scriptures our current times to a T! If there truely is a God, all I can say is, he is seriously PISSED OFF and unleashing his wrath on the world right now!

Before I started ITC research and stuck with the conventional investigations of ghosts (if you can call it that), I was a serious skeptic. I hoped that there was a god and an afterlife but was too untrusting and cynical to accept anyones word for it. I am glad I never did take anyones word for it because the journey to this point in my life and the information I have gained through "HONEST" investigation has given me a great insight into what is out there.
The ethics and morals you speak of are a good thing and promote decent treatment of your fellow human beings. The bible though as most can attest to preaches hellfire, brimstone if you don't follow the law of god. The interesting part of it is "god" is indifferent to the things you do here but that doesn't mean the things you do here don't count.
The deeds, positive or negative you do throughout your existence (even after physical death) effect how you will experience and perceive your future reality. There are some nasty things on the other side that are close to this side. They don't see the real world around them, they only see what they want and expect to see.
When we asked about some of the nastier things we have run into, we were told that some of these beings de-evolve into darker and more psychotic beings. Well maybe ya'll aren't ready to accept that stuff yet. _________________ Frank Ratka

I believe that whether there's a supreme being or not, it has nothing to do with the religions to which we find ourselves praying. I have to admit that I think we've been slipping downhill due to our religious beliefs. Please don't think me a horrible person, but if you look at all the wars we've had, each and every has religious prejiduce involved. It's hard to see to the untrained eye, but it's there in a massive scale. Yes, there might be a god, but what I have to say is, "Why are the people who preach the ten commandments the same who will preach in the name of GB and his war in Iraq.
I classify god in the same catagory as paranormal reaserch. We don't know jack crap about any god or gods, (If I ever go one a search for proof of gods, then I won't limit it to the bible, I will search for all gods right down to Greek and Roman mythology.)
Do I believe in an all powerful god? No, and I don't think anyone will ever be able to convert me. Do I believe in a being more powerful than man? Hell yeah, there's a universe out there, and we've only explored to Mars...of course there's something bigger out there... I mean, it's back to the "What if Jesus was an Alien" question about that kinda stuff. lol. I dunno, I think I rambled, but what do ya think? _________________ I'm like the Twilight Zone on Crack baby! |
