The Most Annoying Thing About EVP's - Rant!

Man, if there is one thing that totally fries my ass, it's haggling with people over EVP analysis! Evil or Very Mad

(not talking about anyone here btw) I've had debates with people over discerning EVP phrases that just made me wanna jump through my monitor and shake people and tell them to get the shit out of their ears.... lol

I mean, I put EVP's through the wringer when I am analyzing them. I slow them down, speed them up, change their pitch, EQ them, amplify them, put them through various noise reduction filters, I loop them over and over and I even play/loop them backwards for Christ sakes.... I will even loop each word over and over sometimes.... LOL! Also, aside from being stubborn and a perfectionist, what people don't understand is, I am also a musician of about 23 years and i've spent THOUSANDS of hours with my ear pressed up against the speaker of a boombox, learning how to play intriquet musical passages note for note, counting beats, determining time and key signatures, discerning lyrics and "developing my ear", etc.

So, anyway, some passerby will come along, listen to the raw version of an EVP once or twice and just say, "nah, that's not what it says" and they will swear up and down it is saying something that is not even remotely close to what is actually being said! MANY ghost hunters are totally waaaay off on their analysis a lot of the time too. Yes, many times EVP's will sound like one thing is being said then the next minute it sounds like something else. That's just one of the wierd characteristics of EVP's. But, after putting them through all of the aforementioned procedures, I can usually pin them down to where I am at least 99% certain what is being said.

So, my point here is, until people are willing to spend an hour or two analyzing each little 3 or 4 word phrase of an EVP.... STFU! - Your "opinions" mean nothing!

Seriously though! I am on the IPI forum right now and one of my first posts is hammering there asses about demonology and perpetuating irrational fear-mongering! I am waiting to see if it gets me kicked off, although i said nothing offensive or nasty.

I have been reading through their standards and protocals, which I have noticed are stolen from other sites around the internet. They didn't even bother taking it out of the original wording and rewriting it. Half the information is hear-say/parroting BS and the other half is just plain wrong.

I agree, they will implode!

Well now you & I seem to be living parallel lives lately:

You know what your problem is Frank? You make too much damn sense and people can't handle it. People would rather cry and whine and throw up smokescreens of drama than PRACTICE SIMPLE CRITICAL THINKING.

I was kicked off a website once for questioning what a "ghost" is, the way I have here. Here I got an intelligent debate (how very rare) and people were more interested in exploring ideas, than in defending ideas they blindly accept from other people.

I must be in love with pain ... I just got off the f**king TAPS 18+ website after "arguing" in circles w someone about his paranoid fanatacism over the Ouija board.

I'm exhausted.

The minute you show healthy skepticism (like you did w demons), you get blasted as a cynic. So many ppl are allergic to looking at the world objectively. I'm guilty of this too of course, but but but but ... hopefully in moderation. I'm half-tempted to check out the IPI site and respond on that thread you've posted on. As for the EVP thing, I'll post that now. Hang in there. You've probably given a few people over there a nice, well-needed brainscrambling Twisted Evil

Like you I'm a long-term musician (since age 6). Play by ear; excellent pitch, blahblahblah. Sometimes I just wanna lift a leg and plop a turd over ppl commenting on my EVPs. The only thing stopping me (besides the physical barrier) is knowing that sometimes the best musicians will matrix or just operate on imagination rather that hearing what's there.

I would like to hear some of your EVPs by the way.

One of my more frustrating times w EVP listeners happened when I posted the following 2 EVPs on a few psi forums. Several posters told me the EVP voice (in both rec.s) is just my voice. It's true there's a similar cadence to both voices & they're both alto. But I've listened to my voice since I was born - this other voice was not mine. Frustrating!! Finally, a poster ran both voices through an audio recognition program and found they were objectively different. Thankfully.

You haven't heard any of my EVP's yet? I kinda consider myself to be the "EVP King".... lol A couple of years ago, when we were still doing investigations constantly there was a period of time where I captured something like 120 EVP's during the period of only 6 weeks (over 3 or 4 investigations).

I'll post links to some of them in another post for ya, so we don't get too much further off topic here.

Yeah this EVP voice was quite strong and direct. Also, I caught her in 2 bathrooms in the same hospital. It’s like she followed me from one floor to the other. Craziness.

Funny, you and just about everyone seems to think I’m a male. Sometimes even after I show ppl EVPs! If I had a dime for all the xs someone referred to me in a logical argument they were losing with: “Listen Man/Sir/A$$hole …”. Never bother correcting them either heheh.

Well if you are King of EVPs I’d love to hear your stuff. I may be the Queen (or one of the Queen’s) of EVP. I’m a minimalist in that, if the EVP isn’t very strong I tend to dump it to conserve computer space. What helps is that, for some reason, I’ve attracted some damn strong EVPs. That may justify my title as EVP Queen ... or at least lend incumbancy status Wink

I’m a little shy about posting my pic (or even having my pic taken – lol). And just to keep Frank from acting up: No, it’s not due to any sort of uglychick syndrome lol (seem to have 0 problems there).

Again, would love to hear your stuff.

Have to admit: We female types are generally raised to value our emotions over logic. You know “the heart is where the home is” thing (rather than, the neighborhood is where the home is) and all that sappy crap.

Not sure what happened … I don’t like those irritating yappy little drop-kick mutts. I don’t coo at babies. I HATE shopping and don’t understand doing it for leisure instead of with a purpose. Hate pastels. Pink just kills me. Long nails are useless. Someone is forcing me to receive a gift this Xmas. My choice. So it’ll be a physics book. But getting nothing would suffice too.

Only holiday I like is Halloween because I get to dress up (this year it was the girl from “the Ring”) and scare the kids as a consequence of them dipping their grubby little hands into my expensive bag of vittles.

The only evidence I’m female is I look feminine and carry myself like a chick LOL. Ok I’ll slap up more EVPs. I want to hear more of yours too.
