Okay, this one has been burning my brain for a long time. Why do the televised teams I've seen "go lights out"? Is this a standard practice with most investigative teams?
I'm confused by this practice because it seems sorta unsafe, and in what could develop into a very uncertain situation, wouldn't you want to be able to see where your feet are pretty clearly? Particularly if you're in an unfamiliar environment?
I really would like to understand this because in my own mind I'm thinking, what difference does it make if the lights are off or on? If there are conscious entities present that want to be known, won't they make the effort regardless of lighting conditions?
No laughing - I'm new at this, and I apologize in advance for any dumb or really basic questions, but I hope to learn a few things. _________________ Karen |

The main reason is for nightvision video camera purposes, because we have been led to believe that nightvision enhances spirit energy. To be honest, I think about all it really enhances is BUGS and DUST.
Above all, I think the darkness just enhances the "fear factor" and adds to the thrill for us....

LOL, that's a great, honest answer. Thanks. I've ordered a couple of books this morning on ghost hunting/investigating, in hopes of learning more of the lingo, equipment and methodology.
Interestingly, there was an article in the paper 2 nights ago that my husband emailed to me, regarding the murder of a PowWow/Hex here, near where we live back in 1928. Apparently, the victim's descendants still own the home and are planning to open it to the public this summer as a "haunted house" tour/museum.
I'm new to Red Lion, PA and not familiar with this story, or the Hexmeister culture in this area, but I thought I'd mention this here, in case someone else is familiar and cares to share a little knowledge...maybe offer an opinion as to the worthiness of a visit to this place? _________________ Karen |
