Hey guys, I just registered to see if I could get your advice on something; so here it goes.
My grandma died in her bed back in 1999, and while my dad was re-doing our living room floors, my brother and I had to stay at my Grandpa's til about 1am. I was playing around with my camera and accidentally took this picture:
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n135/staley6/ghost.jpg
Looked like something to me and my whole family, but just though I'd ask you all. It looks like a figure to me, if you make it darker, you can sort of see a neck (i guess), leading up to where the top of the window is in the background. And an arm sorta reaching out to the rocking chair. The 'shoulders' are pretty distinguished.. I wouldn't say that the late stay around for that long, if it were to even be my Grandma.. but idk that's why i'm here, lol. I played around with it in Photoshop so it stands out a lot more, but forgot to save the files to disk once I got a new Mac; so, i'll have to do that again..
Anyways, the next day, my dad picked me up from school and as we were nearing our house I noticed what seemed to look like a reflection of a cross on the side of my garage. The sun was setting adjacent to the garage, providing the reflection of something. I told my dad to back up the car and he's like no lets get inside so I asked again and he did, and he saw it as well. So, I go through the house and into the backyard and stare at the side of the garage and yes, it was a cross, with a diamond around it. I just thought it looked cool, no big deal. So I started to look for what was causing it. I wasn't able to find a thing. I looked for 10 minutes. Nothing. I looked over the fences and into my neighbors yards, nothing. I looked into the front yard, into the sky, on the ground, moved any object in my backyard; nothing. I called my dad out and he just stared at it. Pretty cool, right? Yeah, he started to look for something too. Nothinggg. I stared at it for 20 minutes until the sun set, and it was gone; didn't come back the next day, or ever:

So, yeah, just thought I'd share and see what others have to say.
Thank You. _________________ o.O |

Heya Creeps,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing! Would it be possible for you to either post the original, unenhanced "ghost" photo or email it to me? It's really hard for me to comment on this one. Also, do you happen to have any other comparison photos that were taken from that same angle the night you took this one?
The "cross" photo is just wierd. It's neat how it seems to be perfectly centered in the middle of the diamond. It's like it's perfectly symmetrical, except for at the top, where the square part is. Have you still been keeping an eye out for possible reflections that could be causing it? Did the cross move as the sun was going down or did it just kinda fade out, as it got dark or what?
Thanks again for sharing and please keep us posted on any new findings!

Hey, thanks for replying.
And that is the unaltered photo. I played around with it in photoshop, and saved them as different images, but do not have those. I took many more photos that night to see if I could get it again, but deleted them since I was unsuccessful.. and they weren't from the same angle anyway =\
And the cross didn't move, it kind of faded out as the sun set and I haven't seen it since. Yup I still look for things, and nothing seems to be here that could have caused it o.O When I did see the cross, I tried like.. waving my hand in front of it to see if my hands' shadow would show up on anything, but it did not.
Another weird story..
A few days before my grandma died, she lent my dad a classical music cassette of hers. The day before she died, she asked for it back but my dad said he lost it and said he would look for it that night, but he kinda just shrugged it off I suppose. She died the next day, and he felt bad for not having found it. But yet, the next morning, there, placed in the middle of the kitchen counter, was the cassette. He asked the whole family if any of us had put it there, and nope, no one did. So that freaked me out lol.
Also.. I used to try on all my grandmothers' clothes lol. And the day before she died, she sat me on her lap and said "When I die, you can have all my clothes." I just said "yeah but thats not gonna be for a long time, you're gonna be at my wedding and everything." And she just said "well i don't know about that" with a laugh.
There wasn't one day in her life that she ever kept her front door locked. She knew I always came up to visit her [since she only lived up the block from me], yet the day she died, I was going up there to get stamps from her for my mom, and the door was locked and i looked inside and saw her dog barking and running around in circles. So, either she knew she was gonna die and locked the door [idk, kinda hard if youre in the middle of having a heart attack, right?] Or, she came back to lock it.
I walked up to her house to visit my grandpa a few weeks later and halfway there I saw a car, with HER in it. She was driving, and just glared at me. I thought I was insane and froze, and when I looked back to see where the car went [like 2 seconds later]- it was gone. My grandma never drove a day in her life. Never got her license. So, that was weird.
Just felt like sharing those even though it has nothing to do with photos, sorry lol. _________________ o.O |

Wow, definitely some cool stories! Especially about your grandma driving by and glaring at you! Eeks!
As far as your "ghost" photo, it's a really tough one. I wish it wasn't in black and white. If I had to guess explainable causes, I would call it a smudge or something on your camera lens. Additionally, the bulk of the anamoly consists of a large perfectly round orb, which would normally be attributed to dust. It could possibly be light refraction, caused by the brightness of the flash reflecting off of everything in front of you. It's just really hard to say for sure. It's a wierd one....
Anyway, thanks again for sharing and I hope you will consider frequenting our forum and continue sharing any new findings with us. We could sure use somemore regulars here!

I thought it could have been a smudge at first too, but I checked the lens and nothing was in it. I took pictures afterwards too, and they came out fine. _________________ o.O |

My first responce is that it's a ghost. The only thing that concerns me is the amount of white fabric in the forground that could cause lens glare. There is also an orb up in the corner, but there is a shiney object up on a shelf that could cause a flash dog. So you could have two ghosts or some lens glare and a flash dog. Interesting picture, mind if I send it to a friend for analysis? He is better at sorting out stuff like that than I am and has a few tests for photos that I don't know how to do.
As for the cross, you may not have seen what was causing it, but it was a reflection through something. It may not have even been a big object, which is why you wouldn't have seen it, and it may have been moved since the incident, which is why you haven't seen it again. It could have also been far back enough in someone's room that you wouldn't have seen it through their window. Ask around to the neighbors if they have something that could have caused that reflection. You shouldn't have to go to too many houses. |

you can send it to whomever you want :]
and also, we have a tall fence up so it couldnt have been anything in my neighbors yards.. i went into their yards and even looked around very carefully just in case and didnt see anything _________________ o.O |
