May I have a hunting?

I have lived in this house for almost 3 years, and nothing gave me a thought i may be haunted. All up until now something makes me question the house. Several nights my roomate notices odd shapes on the fire place vent, almost like faces appearing. I thought nothing of it, if you look at something long enough you see things right? Well another night his cat, and knowing that animals have much more stronger senses than human do. Anyways his cat gets excited for odd reasons. Not just like a typical house pet gets excited but its odd how the cat does. One night my roomate said his cat was laying on his lap while he was on the couch watching tv. Well his cats head perked up and started staring at the kitchen like something was in there. Then his cat starting following something with its head like something was walking past. Then his cat got up and walked over towards the basement steps like it was following something. I asked him maybe it was a fly and she was excited by it, and he swears up and down that there was nothing there that would of got her like that. The other day I talked to and old man that walked into my work, I work at a diesel parts distrubution shop. I work outside of town and I notice the man is from the same town I was in. I told him were I lived and he asked me that was the house a man died about 10 years ago in. I never heard anything like that, he could of been mistaken for another house. For some reason these little things are all coming to me. Could I be experiencing a lost spirit? I have became a lot stress lately with my job, and maybe thats why I am noticing these strange happenings, from what I read on your artice on "help, I think I have ghosts!" Is there any type of ghost hunt I could do myself to actually know something I dont know is living with me? I will take any advice I can please help.

Well, I would say that the first thing you want to do is try to record some EVP. I don't know a lot about doing it, but if you read around the forum you should find some suggestions for good equipment to use. When you record, don't have any TVs or radios on that could throw you off, and then ask what you think would be relevant questions for the spirit. If you're lucky, you'll catch something.
