Hey all,
I won't be on the forum as much for a while..My daughter had emergency surgery yesterday morning...came home from her weekend at her Dads bent over in half..couldn't stand up straight...Took her to the ER and ....14 hours later had surgery to remove her appendix.. problem was the appendix had already ruptured and had an abcess by the time they could get to it.. The reason it took 14 hours to remove it is because the surgeon wanted to get some antibiotics into her by IV before going in. Right now we are dealing with a "real nasty" infection because when it ruptured it put a big infection into the abdominal cavity..She is only 17 and in very strong physcial health so she should be able to fight it but being "Mom" I will be with her non-stop until she is better...I'll be back when I can... |

thanks Frank & Meth...She is a terror today.. I Just came home from the hospital and they have her on Morphine every hour...Makes her mean...geez...She is my tough cookie though...With all the pain she went through before and after the surgery she didn't wimper once..talk about a high threshold for pain...She must take after her mommy 8) Doc told us initially that she would be home in 3 days but last night he said that it was more serious so he wouldn't give a definate date on when she can come home. Have her on two really strong antibiotics right now so hope that works.
She is doing ok all things considered but still has a ways to go. Thanks again and I'll try to keep up on things in the forum if I don't pass out from exhaustion first...hehehe |

Well this has certainly turned out to be "Hell week" for me....My daughter is not progressing all that well and the nurses are f!##@$# usless...I should have put this in rantz...
I show up this morning at the hospital at approx 7:30 a.m. and my daughters temp is really high she in a state of shock and no nurses to be found...She said she pushed the button but nobody every came GRRRRRR So I go out to the nurses station and they didn't even know when she had her last pain meds...Geez you talk about your incompetent people They also covered her up with hot blankets anybody in the medical field knows that when you have a high temp you don't cover them up!!!!! They didn't even give her anything to bring it down.....GRRRRR
Finally I get them to give her the pain med and they give it to her on an empty stomach.."Idiots" she immediately starts to get sick...talk about the dry heaves and let me tell you if you've ever been belly cut the last thing you need to do is throw up..it hurts like hell!!!! Well to make a long story short ....I kicked ass before I called names...Nobody treats my kids the way she was treated. You can treat me terribly but don't mess with my kids
To add to a perfectly screwed up situation...my aunt on my dads side died Monday morning and my aunt on my moms side almost died and is in ICU.... The only good thing that has come out of this week so far is I became a great aunt for the 8th time this morning after 10 a.m. Same hospital that my daughter is in... You talk about a F@#@$ up week..."I NEED A VACATION" Talk to you all soon...just venting... |

Good God! Talk about a full plate. You would think for the amount of money a hospital costs they would have competent people at the wheel. Did you chew ass all the way up the chain? _________________ Frank Ratka

Yes Frank I chewed ass out all the way up the chain..They thought they were talking to "Just a mother" Well they had no idea that I'm in the medical field and I think I even taught them a thing or two.... 8)
Anyway the doc says they are going to be taking the drainage tube out today..He didn't release her this morning because she ran a low grade temp all night but this morning I got there and she was a strange color like pale but her finger nails were kind of purple..The nurse said that it wasn't a problem I told her to check her oxygen level "NOW!!!" guess what they gave her a little oxygen and "WOW" what do you know it worked...she is feeling a lot better and asked me for a subway sub for lunch.....Hehehehe...After just having a bite of a hamburger yesterday she is finally going to start to eat...I think it's cause mom is taking care of her instead of the incompetents at the hospital...
The doc is going to release her this afternoon I think because believe it or not she wants to go to her track meet even if I have to take her in a wheel chair...You talk about a dedicated tough cookie....That's my daughter Cassie....She won't be able to run it but still wants to be there...I'm still debating on taking her but the weather is nice 73 degrees today and as long as she doesn't tire out I figure why not...I'm still not sure how long she will be able to stay but just showing up shows a lot of strength I think...I just say if it wasn't for the care I've been giving her she wouldn't have mad a recovery this fast...Stupid asshole "pretenders" I don't know where they got their degrees maybe from "Degrees are us" because they certainly don't act like they had any training....GRRRRR |

Here's an update..She is safe at home "finally".....doing pretty well but she still has a long way to go...the doc said it will take a good 8 weeks to get back to normal...bad news is "no pole vaulting" this year...and no track/running for at least a month..It's just killing her but she will just have to take it easy...
I wanted thank you guys for your concern...You don't find too many people these days that actually care...My deepest thanks guys....Becky |

It's good to hear she is back home with momma! Hope her recovery is shorter than they project.
I'm in San Antonio right now so I haven't had a whole lot of time to get on and respond to anyone. Give me some time though. _________________ Frank Ratka
