If you have ever been to Ireland then you know that every one there has a story about spirits, from your normal hardworking farmer to noblemen and women, ghosts are rampant in the small island; and they'll gladly tell you about them.
While I traveled there I didn't run into many paranormal things (unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to stay too long), but one place that will always stand out in my mind was the Ring of Kerry Hostel, in county Killarney. It is an 18th century manner first owned by an English nobleman, and very beautifully situated on the edge of a national forest.
I made friends with the people who worked there, but never heard any stories of entities at all. In hostels smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited, so they make a big deal (no matter where you go in any country) about it if you do. I do not claim to be psychic or anything of that sort, but I have seen spirits since a young age.
It was on a lovely evening at this hostel that I was sitting in the common room enjoying a card game when I felt the hair on my arms stand and eyes staring at me. Turning I saw a portly man in period clothing leaning against the doorway with a pipe in his hand and a smile on his mouth. He looked over at me and winked, taking a drag of his pipe before blowing out the smoke. Suddenly one of the workers near the door stood up and said "Oi! Who's smoking in here?! You need to take it outside!" The entity smiled at me, puffed again, and then disappeared before my very large and startled eyes.
Needless to say no one was, (there were seven people in the room, most at my table) and it was a relief to know that I wasn't crazy to be seeing the ghost standing there when some else was smelling the smoke he'd just cast.
Later, when I was in one of the corridors of the huge mansion (that I had as yet not been to) I saw an old portrait of the man I'd seen standing in the hallway and when I inquired about it a worker informed me that it was the second owner of the house. I found this very funny.
If you get the chance to go to Ireland, I highly recommend this place; its out of the way and a little remote, but really beautiful and haunted. |

Hehe, I know! I never saw him again, except that once, but I could feel him every now and again, like he was making sure every one was having a good time.
Glad you liked it! |
