Hey everyone! My name's Matt, I'm from Eastern Mass. I am a Revolutionary/ French and Indian War reenactor. I've done a few events at Fort Ticonderoga in New York. This is where I had my very own personal experience.
I was walking along the access road late at night with a few friends. one thing you should know is that at night, that road is so dark because of all the trees, the only way we can manage to stay on the road is by listening to our footsteps on the pavement. I could hardly see my friends about 2 feet away from me on either side. we were all talking, and suddenly I saw a very dim white figure coming out of the darkness directly ahead of us. I dismissed it at first, thinking my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then I realized it was getting closer. I looked to my friend to my right, I could just barely make out his face through the darkness, and he was just as confused as I was.
The figure seemed to glow a bit. It was bright enough to actually make out features. It was a tall, maybe 6 feet or so, man in white 18th century clothes. It came closer and closer and showed no sign of moving to get around us. there came a point where my friend and I had to move away from each other because the man showed no signs of acknowledging us. he walked right past us, I heard no footsteps, he di not look at us or make any sort of sign of acknowledgement. my friend and I looked at each other confused for a second, bewildered even, then I looked back to see this man. blackness. there was nothing and no one in sight. the only figure I could see in front of me, quite clearly, was gone in a matter of seconds. I was baffled for the rest of the night. Everyone I was with had the same exact story to tell when we got back to camp.
well, that's my story, there have been many others from the fort, but those can be told another time. If you'd like to know them, please ask, I'll be glad to let you know. thanks for reading! |

ok, so here's a story from a few guys in my regiment. They were out at night walking. on one side of the road, there are big hills and actual foxholes in those hills where the attacking soldiers would shoot from. well the men were walking and decided to sit in one of the wholes and just look out for a while. so they sat in one of the foxholes, looking at the woods and road. It was a very foggy night. after a while of watching, they began to smell smoke. it was like camp fire smoke. then they began to hear the sound of bagpipes in the distance. suddenly, the fog began to reveal a small camp by the woods. the bagpipe music got a bit louder, accompanied now by drums. It was the sound of an approaching Scottish army. through the fog they saw what looked like a small regiment of Scottish soldiers led by bagpipers and drummers coming toward the camp. once they reached the camp they vanished and the smell of smoke lifted and all they could see was blackness and fog.
the men went back to camp for the night and asked everyone there if they had heard bagpipes at all and no one had. the camp wasn't very far from the hills. the men could not explain what they had seen.
there you go, and hey, I have a question, have you guys (strange happenings) investigated the fort yourselves? if so I'd like to know what you've come up with. |

Heya, Phantom and welcome to the forum! No, the SHGHRS hasn't ever been to Fort Ticonderoga. The first encounter you described sounds like it was probably a residual haunting. You should take note of the exact location and go back and try to document it!
Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you will visit and post often!

| Actually, sounds like the second one might have been residual, too. |
