"DOWN"

My 5 year old came running in the bedroom where I was folding clothes today, and his little face was white as a sheet. He was clearly shaken, and almost in tears. When I asked him what was wrong, he said he heard a deep voice say "Down" in the hallway. I told him it was probably the tv, but he said the tv was off. And then I remembered I'd turned it off myself. He's never been one to make up lies. In fact, rather than lie, he'll just not say anything at all, or he'll try to change the subject. He's an extremely honest child, and I believe him when he tells me something. (Unlike my oldest boy, but that's another story...) It was just the two of us here, with no close neighbors or other noises around, so I don't know what he could have heard. But judging from the fear in his eyes, he heard something! I would never say he didn't hear something when he said he did, because I too, heard "noises & voices" when I was his age. I don't know what to make of it, but I did think it was interesting enough to post here. Now, I'm not saying it's ghosts, but any theories on what it might have been??
