Hey folks. I'm sorry I've been away a while now. We had a very sudden and tragic death in our family recently, and then my job workload [thankfully] got out of control, but I welcomed the productive distraction.

I have a question nagging my mind for you experienced investigators: Have you investigated your own family members who've passed? I've just about talked myself into taking my as-yet-unused DVR* out to some familiar places, but I'm concerned about a few things:

1) If you have done this, did other members of your family understand your genuine desire to reach out to the departed family member? If not, how'd you dance around their feelings?

2) If you have done this, and managed to get coherent results, were you comforted by your results or did you experience something else you hadn't counted on?

3) If you haven't done this - and I'm talking about someone you were actually fairly close to - what were your reasons for not pursuing answers to questions you wanted to ask them?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this folks. Have a nice Tuesday everyone.

*P.S. to Aedryan: I finally settled on an Olympus VN-3100PC. Not too fancy, but it's easy to operate and plays back crisply. Thanks for your tips on the DVRs a while back - it helped a lot as I arrived at my decision.

Fyrgirl1,
I have always been taught to live in the present, never put things off to tomorrow. No , Im not perfect, just in one with spirit. I have had many die around me, Aunts ,Uncles , Brothers, (that was hard), Even my native teacher who I considered to be a father. I also had step father and step brother. But i never felt they owed me something. I help most of them pass into spirit realm, by being there and requesting in a sacred manor that they pass without anything or anyone holding them.
In native believes if you speak,(or hold tight) to the person who pased... You are holding them here..
From the Investigating I have done , more than half of the true huntings are of that nature.

This may be hard , but I also guided my Mother this way,, so go in a room by your self with a picture of departed. Close your eyes, remember everything, Then open and release, say and meen it I release you, then invision them going to sacred place.

Karen,

I am sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prays are with you!

As for the contacting of the family that have passed, i guess in a way i haven't really had to....both when my Grandfather passed this year, he sent signs to me though my daughter to let me know he was ok, my cousin well i am still convinced that he is here with me....you know guardian angel type.

i think i would like to contact my passed on family members though Ouija Board i think that would be really cool, but there is no guarantee that it will be them.....

Just to address question 1,

i find people deal with Death the best way the person knows how, some get angry some get sad
some even choose to just continue thinking that they never passed in the first place.......If trying to contact them after death is your way of dealing with the pain of loosing someone then your other family members need to support you know matter how silly it sounds to them.

Well that’s just my 2 cents worth anyway!

Take care
Em

Long time/no see, fyrgirl1. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss! If i've said it once, i've said it a thousand times.... DEATH SUCKS!

I have tried speaking to deceased friends and family members with Ouija Boards in the past, but it's like Em said, there is no way to tell if you're really talking to them and it's doubtful to begin with.

If you really want to try to contact this family member, I would give ITC a shot. All of the hardcore ITC people swear that it's possible to contact pretty much anyone ya want from the "other side"....

Please be sure to keep us posted if you decide to give ITC a shot!

Thanks for the kind words you guys - I really appreicate them.

ITC is a bit out of my reach at the moment financially - the equipment is on my list, but it'll stay on the list till after Christmas at this point unfortunately. I also don't have a Ouija board, and while they're at least affordable, I don't have anyone to take it seriously with me.

Without going into a lot of detail (there are a few lawsuits going on against the driver of the car), the person who died is my nephew. He was killed in a car crash 2 weeks after his high school graduation and 2 weeks before his 18th birthday. There is still a tremendous amount of emotion swirling about in the family - it happened at the end of June, but it still feels like yesterday to us, and I desperately want to try to relieve some of the pain, but without upsetting anyone, in particular, my parents who are true skeptics.

My nephew's parents and brother are destroyed by this. Half of the time they just move about like zombies; going through the motions, but incomplete people now. A gaping, throbbing pain in their hearts where a vibrant, uplifting person used to be. I truly believe that if I were lucky enough to capture his voice, his parents would gain a great deal of comfort from it.

I'm not going down to work on any of this for another week yet, but any tips you all can offer as I attempt such a personal investigation - and my first one to boot - I'd be most eager and grateful to have.

By the way Em, grats on the new digs - is the farm haunted by any chance?

Hey Karen,

Thanks, actually i don't know if the farm is haunted.......i don't think so, but it would be pretty wicked if it was!!!!

As for the Oujia Board you can simply make one yourself you don't have to buy one.......Aedryans prob the man to tell ya what you can use but if you want to, if you check out my Oujia board experiments Aedryan explains a few ways you can make one at home.......

Just a thought.....

Make your own...really...veddy interesting. I'm guessing you "set" it the same way they showed us in the dowsing experiments I attended. I'll dig through the boards tonight and take a look.

Meantime, I'd be checking the history of the house and property your on and see if anything fun and curious pops up. Smile

hey fygirl--My uncle died on new years day about fifteen years ago. I was pregnant with my youngest at the time. I was very close to my uncle, and had just visited him a week and half before his death. He was a firefighter and had gone into a fire on christmas eve. He was already sick and when he sweated in the suit that night, it added to his illness and brought on viral pneumonia. He went in the hospital on christmas day and on new years eve I had a dream about him. He came to me and told me not to worry that everything was going to be okay. i didn't think to much on it the next morning, but the dream still stayed in the back of my mind. Later that afternoon, I got the call that he was gone. Now, I don't know if it was just my subconscious and all the stress of his illness on top of my being with child. I like to believe, though, that he did come to me in my dream to let me know before hand, because on the day of his funeral, I was strangely calm and collected and felt this peace. Yes, I cried, but strangely enough, I could handle his passing. If freaked out my other family members that I was so calm. Especially since we were so close. Strange, huh?

As for contacting loved ones after their passing--hell no, I wouldn't try even if I was offered top money. And I don't have the desire either. But for those who do wish to try, I wish ya good luck.

Thanks for sharing your experience with your uncle, Butterfly. The more I read and listen to other people's experiences, the more I am convinced that as children, we haven't learned to shut off the whatever-it-is we start out with that makes us more receptive to these experiences - whether they're received during our waking or sleeping hours. It sounds like your uncle performed his last "rescue" as he went onto the next place by giving you a bit of peace to help balance how much you'd miss him - how lucky you were to have that.

I think I've decided that motive is the key to making this decision. I feel very drawn to doing this; if I get nothing, which is what I expect to be the case, that's fine - at least I tried. If I get something that offers my family a little peace, then that would be wonderful. Maybe the intentions in this case will be the key to yielding a positive result. One can only hope for the best.

Since I don't have a lot of equipment or help, my plan is to take my little DVR to several places that I expect to have the most energy: The house he grew up in (currently empty and up for sale), the crash site and the graveyard, where his parents still spend quite a lot of time sitting and being with him. I do have a digital cam, but it's a fairly old model, and seeing how photographs have been historically pooh-poohed in general, I expect anything I get on audio to be more valuable.

I plan to just turn on the DVR and talk to him and ask basic questions like, "Are you here?" "Do you have any messages for your parents?" "Do you have any messages for your brother?" "Is there anything you want anyone to know?" I'm really as green at this as it gets I think, so I'm still open to suggestions.

Good luck. We all learn through trial and error when we make a decision and go for it, so i hope you find what you're looking for. If you get data or whatever, i hope you share the physical evidence here. Would love to see how it goes.
