clear voice said my name

I was still in high school, in my room sitting on my bed when I heard my name said clear, and very close to my ear.I think I will try to get a e.v.p. the next time I visit my mom's house. I have not lived in that house for many years. Any thoughts about this? This will be my first ghost investigation.

Hello.

What you might have experienced is something the paranormal feild names a "calling spirit".

These spirits have been talked about through out history. In folklore, calling ghosts lure people to their deaths. They are related to evil-minded spirits in mythology, as such the sirens of Greek lore: water nymphs whose beautiful singing lured sailors to their deaths. The sirens lived on an island between Circe's isle and Scylla. They sat on a flower bed surrounded by the rotting corpses of the men they killed.
Also some people seem convinced that these "calling Ghost" are demons, or negative spirits luring you to potential harm. I have yet to find actual proof of these statements, so no worries.

Calling Ghost are experienced by many during Paranormal Investigations, most however are just that a name being called by something not visual. Most statements by people who have experienced this have not reported anything negative happen in these situations, nor did they feel threatened in anyway.

This happened to me a few times when I was a kid. I would be in the middle of nowhere, with no one around and I would hear someone call my name, faintly in the distance. Definitely wierd! There is a silly old myth that claims, if you hear "someone" calling your name like that, do not look back, because it is your grave calling you.... Shocked

The sensible explanation would be that it is probably just something in your subconscience. Who knows though.... Just a couple of years ago, I legitimately heard disembodied voices on two seperate occasions....

Hi Everyone,

Yeah i have had that happen a fews times too.....i have also heard like what sounds like two people deep in dicussion and walked around the house and found nothing or anything that could be making the noise....That was freaky!!!!! or what sounds like the radio..

Well I suggest trying to get an evp if this is a typical occurrence in your home.

But I do know what you experience off hand, I myself way before I even started a Paranormal Investigation had the same experience, here I will tell you about it.

I was 15, and my friend had lived by a popular 'hot spot". There was a pond a young boy had drowned at and the story was that his ghost lured other little children into the pond, so they would drown and he'd have a playmate. (Apparently a two little kids had imaginary friends in the area and ended up wandering away and eventually drowning in the same pond>> true story. Anyhow my friend took me out there, nobody else from school lived around her, and her mother was at work. This pond has woods and farm fields that surround it so there was no way it was someone we knew. But we got to that pond and clear as day, both our names were being called from a far. We were baffled and scared at the same time, we left.LOL!

Thank you all so much! It always felt creepy that it used my name. But it sounds like all of you had a similar experience! This changes how I feel about it. Very Happy

I really enjoyed hearing all your stories! I just got my first digital voice recorder. I might try to find that ghost, or thing that said my voice. But I do not feel so singled out now!

Good to hear we calmed nerves abit about it Teelee...Just so you know...and a little handy tip..If for what ever reason you hear the noise or your voice called again..just remember that either 1. there is a perfectly good explaination for it or 2.you could be extreamly lucky and actually have the real deal..so in other words don't fear it imbrace it...you might find yourself not so much scared anymore but curious and you will find you find it easier to investigate as you won't be frightened anymore. Just maybe something to help ya along a bit!!

Thanks em! I do not feel so bad about the memory of it anymore. I feel I can be more objective, less emotional to investigate it. I did some evp work, but I think I need a headphone to hear it. The digital voice recorder does not have a volume key, I think.

Try connecting it to your computer and using the Speaker (if you have some) to play the Audio back!!
