| I am curious to know any thoughts about small children ageing anywhere from 2 and up can see people that have passed?? The reason i am asking is that i am a mum of a three year old little girl who has brought to my attention a few times strange things in my parents house. When she was about 2, she wouldn't enter my old bedroom at my parents place she was convinced without a doubt that there was a man in that room, i wouldn't have said she was scared but she didn't want to go in there without someone else. I would ask her why she didn't want to go in there and she would just say there is a man, there is a man. Not long after that she came to me from a broken sleep i would say about 9:30pm and told me THE MAN and then pointed at the window, i went to the window thinking maybe someone is out side but no one was there and my Dog wouldn't let anyone near our house without warring us with his very loud barking. Then came another incident, this more recent. I lost my grandfather in Jan 07 he and my daughter had a very close relationship, even when he was dieing he would still make an effort to play with her and just spend time with her, when he passed it was hard on my whole family, my nan came and stayed with us for a while and never once did my daughter ask where Grandad was, a girlfriend of mine came over and she has a tatoo of a pegusis(flying horse) on her back, i asked my daughter (pointing to the horse) whats this?? horse.. she said, then i asked and what are these?(pointing to the wings) she said Grandad......in total shock i said who?? she said Grandad....he gone home now, he no sick no more...i bursted into tears and held her tight, she just said i love you mum and she never brought it up again......Do you think it's possible that my grandfather came to her to let us know he is OK?? |

Heya Em!
You and I already talked about this in the chat room lastnight, but i'm interested in hearing what others will tell ya....
The most important thing is, your daughter is not in any danger. That's about the only thing I can say for sure.
Talk at ya later!

The theory is ( and I am just stating theory) that small children are more open to the spirit world and therefore can see things we as adults cannot. We have been told over and over there is no such thing as ghosts so our minds block them out. I am not sure how much of this I believe. I never was told they don't exsist it just wasn't a topic we discussed at home when I was little. I don't have any solid evidence to back it up. I do think animals can either see or sense things we cannot because I have seen my dogs bark and growl at something I don't see. _________________ Founder

Bump. When I opened this thread to read, I was really hoping to see more theories offered. I've always wondered from where this notion stemmed that small children and animals were so much more receptive to paranormal existences than adult humans.
Has anyone read any studies on this? I realize we're talking about a field that isn't terribly well documented, researched or (gasp) government funded, but surely someone must have devised a theory by now...
Why do you suppose those members of society who are least equipped to ask questions, investigate or document what they're experiencing are getting all the great para-activity time? I mean, aside from the tried and true explanation we've all heard over the ages, as noted by ghostlymom above? _________________ Karen |

Hey everyone,
i don't think that children walk around seeing dead people, and i don't think all children have this kind of experiance otherwise like you said karen there would be more investigating as there would be very concerned parents out there wanting answeres but thats no to say that the child even says someting to an adult in the first place .....i do however feel that if a person has a connection with someone that no matter how bigger gap between them even in death that they can have these experiences because of that close bond, i also think that sometimes like i know with myself that when i lose someone that is dear to me i want to believe that they talk to me and that they are around me looking out for me it's away to greave i guess this could be the possible reason as to why this happened with a child imagination and all and the close relationship that they had.....but this is just my thoughts on the matter
i would still like to here some other theories on the matter as well........
See ya
