Can a 3 yr old child see spirits?

A friend told me a coworker he works with has a child who can see black hands touch him. I found it interesting because the child is only 3 yrs old.I wonder is this possible at that age? The child will tell his mom and Dad he can see the hands touch him.It has happened 3 to 4 times, I do not know much about the family because I heard this 2nd person.Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this before? Confused

if animals and older people can see them, i dont see why a child wouldnt be able to. They might describe what they are seeing differently than an adult would.

A couple of questions come to mind about this....

1) How does a 3 year old with very limited speech capabilities convey such a thing to his parents?

2) Do children typically know their colors by 3 years of age? I can't remember what age my kids were, but I would imagine they didn't know their colors until maybe shortly before pre-school (prolly 4 or 5 years old).

3) If the child is indeed conveying this to his parents, how do they know he's not referring to dreams/nightmares?

One for sure thing is, children do still have a "magical" thought process at this age. At that age they don't understand that flying pink unicorns and fairies don't really exist. In their world, they do.

Thanks for your thoughts, this will help me become better at ghost investigations. My friend said that the boy would be siting on the couch and he would squint his eyes. The Mom would say " whats wrong?" and the boy would say he saw the black hands. I agree that the boy is to young to ever know for sure.Even harder that its 2nd person! Thanks again! Cool
