LMAO you guys..reminds me of my first trip tp USA..hubby ( he's OzMerican) educated me on what NOT to say..
"thongs"
also told me never to walk into a clothing store and ask where are the "black knickers"..apparently beacuse we talk so fast it sounds like the "N" word.. 
or
ask for Coke cola not COKE 
thongs=flip flops
knickers= undies=jocks
Coke= coke a cola

Far out i am going to get my ass kicked or something when i am over there then, i am the worst for the Aussie lingo.....argh CRAP!!!
The one thing i will give us Aussies we sure cut our words to just about nothing and yet we all understand exactly was is being said.
Anyway these are ones used often in my area ect as all different states of Aus kinda say things differently or the word means something else there...
these have to be the some of the best ones i could think of...
1.Bondi cigar: a little history with this one...(bondi is one of the famous beaches in Sydney and a long long time ago the swere broke and well lets just say that no one swam at that beach for a while as Poo was washing up on the shore and the locals gave a name to them so as not to scare off any overseas vistors....hence Bondi Cigar)people still use this term now if someone hasn't flushed the toilet ect!
2. (my fav) Built like a brick shit house: VERY VERY muscular!!
3. Bludger: Lazy person.
4. DOLE bludger: government payed lazy person.
5.Budgie smugglers: mens swimmers.
6.Cark it: die
7.as dry as a Dead dingo's donger: dry
8. Stands out like dogs balls: obvious
9.Fair dinkum :true, genuine
10.as full as a goog : full of either food or Booze which ever is the case.(me its normally Booze..)

Actually there is a word that Aussie's call a cigarette : Durry!! I hate the word. You sound like i street bum when you say it!!! lol

yeah that must be a NSW one..you can always tell who is from what state when it comes to the slang..the ryming slang is funny a lot of the old fellas up here still use it..my favourite and I use it too is ..
Gotta hit the Frog and Toad
..means Hit the road.

funny conversations in our house when we mix Philly street slang with Aussie lingo..  Jemma has learnt lots of new words
