A big thanks to Aedryan for helping me out in writing my essay by letting me interview him. I will be asking some basic questions so my classmates can understand the reason for websites such as yours and of course to educate them a bit on ghosts and ghost huntings.
1. Why did you create this "Strange Happenings Ghost And Hauntings Research Society"?
2. What are your perspectives on ghost hunting?
3. What do you look for when you go out ghost hunting?
4. How often do you find ghosts?
5. Is it easy tracking them down?
6. What kind of places are prone to ghosts and supernatural activities? is there a reason why you only find them in certain places?
7. Why do you think ghosts exist? What is there purpose in this world?
8. What is your purpose in investigating the supernatural?
9. How many ghost encounters have you had?
10. Would you say that your findings are proof that ghosts really exist?
11. Can ghosts attack people, and if so why do you think they attack?
12. What kind of forms can ghosts appear in?
13. Is there any special tools you use to ghost hunt?
14. What do you think of people who say that this is a big hoax?
15. Is there anything you do before going on a ghost hunt?
16. What are the chances of capturing a ghost on video, recordings, pictures, etc.?
17. This will be my last question. What would you say to those who don't believe?
Thank you once again for the opportunity. If there is any additional things that you think is necessary for me to know then i'll glady accept it. |

1. Why did you create this "Strange Happenings Ghost And Hauntings Research Society"?
For a few different reasons really. My interest in ghosts began when I was about 12 years old when my family lived in an old, secluded farmhouse, where we experienced many "Strange Happenings". A few years ago, curiosity got the best of me, after having spent many hours observing the Willard Library Ghost Cams and capturing a lot of spooky photos there (including full body apparitions). In short, a combination of my curiosity, a fear of death and an uncertainty of an after life is what inspired me to form this organization. With that of course, came the desire to find definitive answers about ghosts and the after life.
2. What are your perspectives on ghost hunting?
Heh.... Well, the first thing that comes to mind these days is, ghost hunting has become too commercialized, because of all the television shows that revolve around ghosts and ghost hunters. These television shows are only further contributing to all of the fallacies, misconceptions and outright lies that already plague the paranormal community. The old adage - "Ya can't believe everything ya see on television" is an enormous understatement, where these shows are concerned. What isn't already entirely concocted by Hollywood is concocted by all of the mystical belief driven "experts" and "psychics", which they repeatedly stick in front of the camera on these shows. If these shows focussed on nothing but honest to goodness paranormal investigation and evidence (or lack thereof) that is presented in an honest, scientific manner, their ratings would plummet to nothingness after the first couple of episodes. All of this commercialism and mysticism aside, I feel that the wheel needs to be totally reinvented, in terms of ghost hunting methods, theories and above all, what is considered to be "evidence".
3. What do you look for when you go out ghost hunting?
Well, my answer to this question has drastically changed over the past few months and I don't know if I really even have an answer to this presently. We used to monitor for spikes or dramatic fluctuations in the electromagnetic fields and temperatures, but in all honesty we rarely ever experience any and when we do, we can usually find a logical explanation for it. We continuously record video during our investigations with our nightvision cameras and all we ever really see are orbs. We know that orbs exist and that they do at least "seem" to display a certain level of sentience, but a lot of us have our doubts as to whether or not they are ghost related. What a lot of people don't realize about ghost hunting is, we don't find very much of what we are looking for until we get home and review all of our data. One of the main things we watch closely is weather and environmental conditions, because we can usually debunk the majority of photographic anamolies, by looking at certain weather variables.
4. How often do you find ghosts?
That is an extremely broad question, because we do not truely even know what ghosts are or if they even exist. I will say that out of hundreds of hours of investigating and thousands of photographs taken in what are at least "believed" to be some of the most haunted locations in our area, I can probably count the truely unexplainable photos on one hand. If it is ever proven that the orbs we monitor and record with our nightvision cameras are ghosts, then I would say we have found hundreds of ghosts. But, in my opinion, that is doubtful. If all of the electronic voice phenomena we capture on a regular basis are truely "ghosts", hundreds more can be added to that list.
5. Is it easy tracking them down?
Nope! Ghost hunting costs quite a bit of money, it's a lot of work and it's EXTREMELY time consuming for very little returns.
6. What kind of places are prone to ghosts and supernatural activities? is there a reason why you only find them in certain places?
The types of places we choose to do our investigations are those, which have a history surrounded by deaths, murders, suicides, tragedies and negative atrocities in general. I guess the reason for that is, because if there is any truth to the old belief that negative energies linger in those types of locations, it will better our chances of capturing ghostly activity. It is also believed by many that negative spirit energies and even demonic entities are drawn to these types of locations. I can't say that is true with all certainty, but I can say that we seem to capture more electronic voice phenomena and orb activity on video in those types of locations than we do in locations without that kind of history.
7. Why do you think ghosts exist? What is there purpose in this world?
Again, no one can honestly say with all certainty that ghosts truely exist, let alone why they are here. Nor can we say why they AREN'T somewhere else, such as "Heaven" or "Hell" or if there even really is a Heaven or a Hell. There are only theories and most of them are based on people's religious "beliefs". One of the popular "non-religious" theories is based on The First Law Of Thermodynamics.
The first law of thermodynamics is often called the Law of Conservation of Energy. This law suggests that energy can be transferred from one system to another in many forms. However, it can not be created nor destroyed. Thus, the total amount of energy available in the Universe is constant. Einstein's famous equation describes the relationship between energy and matter - E = MC2. In this equation, energy (E) is equal to matter (M) times the square of a constant (C). Einstein suggested that energy and matter are interchangeable. His equation also suggests that the quantity of energy and matter in the Universe is fixed.
We know that every person has electromagnetic energy flowing through their bodies. Well, it is that energy, which is thought by many to be, our "soul". So, the popular beliefs is that, when a person dies, that energy has to go somewhere. From there it is simply a matter of people's individual beliefs.
8. What is your purpose in investigating the supernatural?
I pretty much answered this already. It is a combination of my curiosity, a fear of death and an uncertainty of an after life. But, I shouldn't fail to mention that, being a magician/illusionst and a heavy metal musician, i've always kinda been into the darker, spookier side of things. So, the whole thrill aspect of it is a big part of it as well. I guess I like being scared. >8>|
9. How many ghost encounters have you had?
Only a few. Strangely, most of those things seem to happen in my house, AFTER the investigations. Though whether they are actually related to the investigations or not is debatable. One night I saw a tall, white ghostly figure standing behind me on my patio and when I turned around, it swooped up into the air and vanished. On two other occasions I legitimately heard two disembodied voices speak to me. One of the times a man said "BOO!" real loud direcly in my ear. The other time it was a woman's voice. What she said and why she said it, would be better left unsaid.... Other than that, I have legitimately seen orbs in my house with the naked eye on at least a couple occasions. There have been two instances out in the field (in the same cemetery), where I suddenly became disoriented and felt like "something" may have been trying to "get inside my head". On one other occasion (in that same cemetery), myself and another person both said that we heard disembodied footsteps walking behind us and I also had something grab a hold of my camera and shake it while it was in my hand. In another cemetery, "something" was stomping on the ground repeatedly right beside me.
10. Would you say that your findings are proof that ghosts really exist?
Nope! It only proves that they MAY exist.
11. Can ghosts attack people, and if so why do you think they attack?
We have heard reports consisting of everything from pushing, biting, scratching and hitting to molestations, rapes and possessions. The only evidence of any of it I have ever seen from a first hand, reputable source would be "The Ghost Tracker Possession Incident", which you can read about here on the forum in the "Ghost Hunter Stories" thread. There is a link in there, where you can go to their site and listen to the audio from entire incident and read their full report. Why would ghosts attack people? I would have to say, either just to get their attention or to taunt them. It is believed that when a person dies, their spirit retains all of the same characteristics that the person had while they were amongst the living. If that's really the case, it might explain why physical attacks are so rare, because if you think about it, the majority of people you will encounter in life aren't physically abusive, evil or malevolent.
12. What kind of forms can ghosts appear in?
Any answer to this would be misleading and presumptuous, if not entirely false. Almost all of the photographic anamolies that were traditionally thought to be forms of spirit energy have been debunked a hundred times over.
13. Is there any special tools you use to ghost hunt?
Our group uses nightvision video recorders, digital audio recorders, electromagnetic frequency detectors, various types of thermometers, a variety of cameras, weather data loggers, environmental meters and motion detectors to name a few. For reviewing and analyzing our evidence we use many different types of computer programs, ranging from audio and video software to photo software. We also monitor solar weather and moon data.
14. What do you think of people who say that this is a big hoax?
To be honest, I value the views and opinions of sensible, skeptical minded people more than I do overly superstitious people or people whose sense of reasoning are clouded by mysticism or personal religious/occult/new age beliefs. However, the views and opinions of what we call, "armchair debunkers" mean nothing to me. Those types of people just won't believe any type of evidence you could possibly show them.
15. Is there anything you do before going on a ghost hunt?
Buy LOTS of batteries!
16. What are the chances of capturing a ghost on video, recordings, pictures, etc.?
I pretty much already answered this. The chances of capturing spirit voices in audio recordings are huge. We have gotten hundreds of them. Some of them are even direct communication, where the voices seem to respond to something said or a question asked.
17. This will be my last question. What would you say to those who don't believe?
I would tell them to by all means maintain a skeptical point of view, but at the same time open themselves up to possibilities. Hardcore non-believers should take some time to actually try and capture some of their own evidence. Anyone who has an audio recorder can record electronic voice phenomenon. I personally guarantee that within a session or two, they will capture at least a couple of EVP's, if not a few of them. To me, that is honest to goodness evidence that there is at least a possibility that ghosts or an after life could exist. _________________
